Birthdays. A complete waste of time, just another day, nothing special. That’s at least how a lot of people feel, or at least what I see. For some it’s a time go out and get wasted, and never remember what happened the morning after. Maybe you wake up next to someone in dread, maybe you wonder how or why you have a pink flamingo tattooed on your chest.
I tend to think each day is what you make it to be. For me, a birthday is a chance to reflect on events—both the good and the bad, failures and achievements. It’s a time where I can take a virtual tour of my growth. A year ago, I was still somewhat reluctant to openly admit that I’m introvert where today I wear it with pride. A year ago I started writing music again which led to a band and now an album. I've made some of the strongest bonds/friendships I've ever had despite vast distances. For the first time I’ve been able to open up about several personal issues that have plagued me for 20 years that I hope to finally get answers to and help for.
A birthday is also the perfect time, a special time, to wonder what the future may hold. It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me, and I’m feelin’ good.
